Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

https://www.famitsu.com/news/201808/30162981.html

Libra of Soul:
  • Considered to be a "behind the scene" mode focusing on "another soul"
  • You can choose the weapons, parts of costumes and fighting style of of any character (cf. infra), and modify your appearance at any time
  • There are cities on the map, where you can buy items and weapons
  • You can have random encounters while traveling on the map
  • The more levels, the stronger you get (and you can also equip stronger weapons, hints of either weapon exp. or weapon stats)
  • Fights with special "rules": weaker hero, stronger pushes,..
  • Created character from other players will appear in your campaign

Creation:
  • They talk about choosing your height "freely", maybe we will have a slider rather than 4 or 5 heights? We are only getting 5 heights (cf. official Soul website)
  • Same goes for muscles
  • Modification of each part like in SCV is still possible.
  • They talk about 370 parts (they say "types of parts" though)
  • Still different face paints, stickers (scars, emblems, etc.), still customizable
  • They talk about "Weapon creation", which is nothing but weapon customization, like in SCV (at least, that's only what they show)
  • Still extra parts like in SCV
  • Still different frames (serious or funny ones)
  • Get ready: WE CAN CHOOSE GERALT'S FIGHTING STYLE FOR OUR CaS!!!!

So I take it we are getting the same body-morphing options as 5. So basically, nothing new or extended. No ass-slider or anything.

Sigh.

Libra of Soul sounds a lot like Weapon Master mode mixed in with a bit of Lost Swords, with a proper story as well (compared to SC2 just having a bunch of text in mission descriptions).

I wonder if any of the more monstrous races with have a breast slider. I want lizard boobs.

I wonder if the races will affect the story at all.

Maybe Zasalamel will be like, "I couldn't help but notice that you're a re-animated skeleton. I should introduce you to this other re-animated skeleton I know."

Or Azwel tells you, "Hey, I said I was the leader of humanity. Not the leader of lizards, goblins, robots or whateverthefuck you are. Please remove yourself from our secret clubhouse."

If you can change races at any time I can't imagine anything will be different for each one. As entertaining as it'd be to have the dialogue options all be 'Grraarghh' when playing as a Lizard it'd be a lot of extra work.

Since when was it ever said that you can change races at any time? what was said was you can change your APPEARANCE at any time, but I'm fairly sure that you'll be whichever race you chose because otherwise it wouldn't make any sense at all, much like skyrim where you can change appearance at that girl in the thieves guild but you're limited to your race.

Didn't you have to unlock characters in every soulcalibur game

Considering how much sales/marketing and the fanbase depends on character reveals nowadays, namco wouldn't benefit from having unlocks unless the unlocks were clones, or semi-throwaway / new / unpopular.... or if they basically announced what the unlock was at some point.

Won't they make everyone available from the beginning for competitive play?

I would hope the boss fighters are unlockable at least. Kind of gives you a sense of achievement and something to work towards when playing single player modes. If not I hope there are a lot of CaS parts and weapons to unlock.

Can't believe people are making a big deal out of stages. There are more important things then stages right now. The only fighting games that I think more about stages are injustice and doa only do to the fact of destruction and interactive.
Stages actually make a difference in 3D fighters.
You mean that garbage crap that Capcom pulls with their vs games that have now made their way into their main games. No thanks. Made sense with KoF games in the 90's (yearly releases, limited software space) but today it's just lacking.
I've never once played a fighter with stage-specific themes that had a better OST than with character-specific themes.

Also Capcom had been doing those since SF1, where have you been?

I can read Japanese. The Famitsu article says

種族や装備パーツ、流派など自分好みの主人公を作成できるぞ。これらの設定はゲーム中にいつでも変更することもできる。

which translates to

"You can choose the race, equipment, fighting style etc of the main character. You can change these configurations at any time within the game."

Well i just rented DBZ and several characters were locked on that. Unless i'm mistaken and those were actually DLC but i dont think so because i know there were also missing character select pictures.
