Soulcalibur Lost Swords Beta Test Announced...

Namco-Bandai recently announced an upcoming domestic beta test for Soulcalibur Lost Swords; which is scheduled to be released sometime by the end of the year. In case you forgot, Lost Swords is a single-player only fighting game; so chances are you may not be interested in this little title. However, the game will be free on PSN when it launches soon.

The beta test will be available between November 14 to 18. In the beta test, players will be able to test out a small portion of "Quest Mode" with Sophitia, Siegfried and Mitsurugi. In addition, players will have access to character creation and the shop. In order to try out the beta, you will simply need to download the 4gb trial when it becomes available on the Playstation Network. More information after the break [...]

UPDATE: Namco-Bandai has informed us that this "domestic" beta test is for Japan only. A Japanese PSN account will be required to download the beta. There are no plans to bring the beta test to other territories.

Lost Swords brings back some old features from the Soulcalibur series, as well as introduces a few new ones. LS re-introduces the armor break system from SC4 where you could destroy pieces of your opponent's clothes; although this time you must do a "Soul Break" move under certain conditions. Destroying your opponent's armor will drop treasure items. It also brings back a slightly altered version of SC4's Tower of Lost Souls Tag system.

Yay... SC4 mechanics... thats exactly what we need.. ._.

 

I may end up playing this more than any of the games on PS4 that week....

 

This looks pretty cool so far. I like it a lot. It would be perfect if it were multiplayer but you can't have everything. And it seems to be more single player content so multiplayer might not work (should with tag though).

 

I'm so glad we got some new pics and info.

 

I have no clue what time the story is meant to be set at. I mean we have the models of Sieg and Mitsu 17 years after the events of Soulcalibur, but sophitia is now here?

This is a single player only, they better not fuck it up like they did SCV's

 

I'm not sure if its even meant to have coherent story, not that it matters. But we'll see. Anyways, what is meant by "domestic beta test"? Does this mean this test is exclusive to Japan only?

 

Exactly, it may has nothing to do with SC story, we still don´t know

I DID forget that. Yep, I don't care at all.

Once again, SC is the redheaded stepchild and Tekken is Namco's favorite son. I hate this so bad.

The only good thing here is that it proves PS is still in business.

So THAT'S why Sophitia wasn't in SCV: She was Mitsurugi all along.

 

Pretty sweet. Main reason I didn't like 5 was the weak single player so this is good for me.

 

On one console only.....Well, I did see this one coming.

I blame Microsoft for being anal about the word "Free".
