I'd personally like to see the return of old characters. They don't need to be part of the story, just make them bonus characters like in SCIII. Or if you can't do that, can we at least have them as CAS-only playsyles? (SE-Taki, SC2-Yunsung, SC2-Ivy, Berserker, Assassin, Necrid and Spawn [minus the flying] come to mind.)

I'd also love it if you include as many of the classic costumes as you can as CAS pieces, even if it's DLC, with the crossdressing option like in BD. And while on the note of CAS: If you decide to keep the Armor Breaking system, please have the armor appear broken, instead of disappearing in custom armor sets. Also in relation to CAS: I'd like it if you would consider each weapon once again having their own unique attributes like in SC2.

Third, the Museum Mode. Battle Theater, Character Katas, Weapon Museum and Voice Library would also be appreciated. Also the option to save replays, larger channels, and a larger variety of stages. Oh and the return of Soul Charge. You could even use part of the Soul Gauge to charge it.

Lastly (Although this is more of a personal gripe, if anything), can you please turn the fan-service of the female characters down a notch? It was fine when it was just Ivy, but seeing Taki, Setsuka, and especially Sophitia with jiggiling DD's the size of their head just doesn't look right. Can you shrink them back to normal size (except Ivy)?

If this truly is going the last Soul Calibur game, then give it your all to make it your best! Although gameplay always comes first, it's the little things that work wonders.

EDIT: I have one last suggestion, and I might get flack for this, but I feel this needs to be said. Kill the cast! There are too many characters in the game that are just there for shits and giggles and don't really do anything.

Now, I don't mean to give the game all new characters with a couple of the classics just to remind us what the hell we're playing (ala SFIII). What I mean is that in order for the series to move on, some characters actually need to die. In fact, that could be the focus of the new game, the aftermath of the battle between the two swords. A tribute to those who shed blood, if you will.

  • As to how to implement this, here's an idea. First of all, for character's who wandered game to game accomplishing nothing in relevance to the game's plot (Yun-Seong, Astaroth, Amy, Seong Mi-Na, Maxi, Mitsurugi, Taki, Setsuka, Rock,), kill them. And to avoid the backlash of having their favorite character unplayable, make these "dead" characters available for purchase like in IV, AND have their story reveal how they died. Y'know, in a gone but not forgotten-type thing.
  • Second, story. Make this game a time skip like the old ones, that way, all of these "deaths" would make more sense. Here's my idea of the setting in 5... If Siegfried wins Fuck that. Siegfried CAN'T win. If he were to win, that would end the series as a whole, since Soul Edge was the whole driving plot. Without Soul Edge, there is no Soul Calibur and vise versa. So here's my SCV story in a nutshell...

  1. Rock is killed by Astaroth. Bangoo ventures to find his father and takes Rock's place in the series.
  2. Ivy's "story" in IV was complete and utter bullshit! "Sword wishes me to live", my nutsack! Ivy's soul is absorbed by Cervantes and she fucking dies.
  3. Setsuka gets slain by Mitsurugi and before she perishes, she does that whole "my blade is crying" crap from her ending in IV and kicks the bucket.
  4. Raphael get's killed by Zasalamel. Amy goes super emo and kills herself upon finding his corpse.
  5. Mitsurugi, Voldo, and Lizardman do nothing like always do.
  6. Tira's dead. Nightmare killed her and absorbed her soul, you saw it happen!
  7. Nightmare kills Siegfried and absorbs his soul. Yun-Seong witlessness and flees home, finally realizing the sword is evil.
  8. Hilde confronts the weakened Nightmare and destroys the physical manifestation of Soul Edge, not the sword itself, the shell. Hilde collapses from injuries.
  9. Both swords are severely weakened.
  10. A game of Flaming Hot Potato of Death with the two swords is engaged.
  11. Cassandra takes Soul Calibur and attempts to use it to destroy Soul Edge, stopped by Sophitia because without Soul Egde, Phyrra dies.
  12. Maxi takes the evil sword. Kills Astaroth. Soul Edge tries to take him over again. Kilik once again buttfucks Maxi with his staff to save him. Maxi asks Kilik to bury him with his crew as a final request. Maxi dies.
  13. With his would-be butt buddy dead, Kilik spirals into manic depression and mourns over Maxi's death. He shuts Xianghua out completely for fear of killing her like he did Xianglian.
  14. Xianghua grows a pair of balls and knocks some sense into Kilik.
  15. A bunch of shit happens.
  16. Cervantes takes hold of Soul Edge and the whole game more or less reverts back to the original Soul Edge game.
I still have some kinks to work out, but you see where I'm going with this, right?

Hey man, I just read somewhere on these boards again that there's some rumor you dudes are thinking of ending the franchise after Soul Calibur 5. I'm tired of hearing these unfounded rumors. I don't understand why that would be since you have a following and sales in regards aren't shabby. I'm sure if you can balance out the characters, this franchise can overtake most others. I've played them all and I've mastered many and nothing compares to your work.

1) Please try to balance out the characters as best you can.
2) A side scrolling adventure strictly tied to rich and well written stories where characters embark on various different missions. If you guys need help in regards stories let your fans know, we can help.
3) Dynamic weather as 'ifiction' mentioned. Everything from rain, hail and snow to wind and sand blowing to and fro. ;)
4) In depth customization along with the choice to customize your characters weapons, stance and moves (that would of course make our characters that we create from the many females in the game less gay). I understand for the moves that would be seriously tricky since its restricted to weapon type, but you know, see what you can do. Allow facial customization. The More we can customize the better.
5) Have this game portable ready for the NGP.
6) The return of Ashlotte. She's just such a smart, cute, little creation of yours.
7) try to reduce the difficulty levels of the timed moves. I'm a huge fan of Setsuka and I still can't pull off (at will) most of her advanced moves.
8) A new boss that isn't necessarily over the top in design yet dark and grim.
9) Make sure the training mode is not as frustrating as that of Broken Destiny's The Gauntlet. Frustrating and boring, if you don't mind my honesty.
10) Also add a plain old fashion medieval sword wielding hero or a tomahawk/axe wielding badass that fantasy readers can relate to. I know we have Siegfried but his sword is a little too big. A character out of Lord of the Rings, if you know what I mean. Heck, why not include the main characters from Lord of The Rings as Cameos along with an Urukhai? I would love to be able to create some of the characters I read in many fantasy books in this game, so make sure if you do introduce a cameo that fits the description, please allow us to customize him. After all, what other video game can we fantasy readers relate better to than Soul Calibur?

Enjoy the process and keep us informed.
Any idea as to when you might launch the game?
I'm impatient already!

Love your work dudes

Reduce movelists. There are lots of moves for each character that are useless because they are too unsafe, or there is a better move that does whatever it does. Confuses novice players.

I'll say what I said from other thread.

+ I was thinking tira should have a gauge meter so Jolly/Gloomy stance can be manually activated, for example doing certain things would charge the gauge like GI, JI, do combo's, counter hits, breaking throws, taunting, and if her health is low enough it charges on its on. Lastly for gods sake all her good moves are in gloomy stance - they don't have to make all the good moves kill herself especially 6666:B (Sorry if i said that wrong I haven't played SC:IV in a while)
+Bring back soul calibur 2 Talim and, assassin. What was wrong with having 2 Yun-seong's? Theres Asthroth and, that other guy - Sophitia, cassie, and Lizzy - and, Kilik and, Seong mina. Assassin was just my personal favorite, and I think with a little background he would have made a solid character in the story. No more create a character please.

+ and return some old modes from Soul calibur 2 and, Three

Some things I'd really like to suggest that may have been overlooked...

1) Dynamic weather/atmosphere effects for stages.
2) Breakable objects/interactive areas of stage. Make it so certain moves will wall-splat as it is now, but specific objects/walls will break and when they do -- they break you into a new area of the stage with a cool animation (Like a throw animation). This will give more dynamic to the stages, allowing some areas to be enclosed, while others provide options for ringing-out.. IF you can get to that point. This means fights will require at least SOME skill to ring out.
3) Not just more custom armor, but the ability to edit fight styles and edit your weapons.
4) How cool would it be if each character had more moves than what are available in the list of inputs and you had to make choices in certain areas as to what types of grabs/unblockables/stances that you equipped? This way not EVERY character will be the same, but these would be various small differences and still balanced. As in, you can't equip nothing but unblockables/grabs or something stupid like that.

OK, here's my new contribution to a Native American warrior. First up is a mens Traditional Dancer:

Next up is a mens fancy dancer:

And finally a mens grass dancer:

http://www.gatheringofnations.com/p...atheringFRI-LP/images/09_MensGrassDance86.jpg

You can google all 3 to see more pics of what the outfits look like. The fringe and feathers can go all over the place so maybe tone it down a little bit so you can see if they're throwing out a low, but it would be cool to see one in action. These are dance outfits, not outfits for war, but for a game, I think they would look cool. Weapon would be a war club. Not sure what the style would be.

Just as long as there's nothing stereotypical or demeaning when it comes to the victory animations like any kind of woo woo'ing, or tomahawk chops. Haven't thought about the stage yet. Who knows, just a suggestion. If this could be passed along, that would be great as I'm sure the designer would be quite interested in exploring another culture and putting it into the game.

You could reference Last of the Mohicans or Dances with Wolves for some fighting sequences, among others. The different outfits could be alternate costumes obviously.

I like some of the mentions made so far. I've a few add-ons and other suggestions, however.

1) For the love of everything good and holy, give Kilik his legendary rush back. Pretty please with sugar on top.

2) I think the community as a whole would be perfectly willing to wait 3-6 extra months if that meant we got a much better game from the get-go. Some of the bugs and combos that have been discovered nearly broke the game (maybe they did), and some of them were discovered REALLY quickly. I remember the tender loving care that went into SC2 because it seemed like an insane amount of thought went into every move. Almost EVERY character had a good chance of winning a tournament. Yes, Xianghua and Cassandra took most of them, but others weren't unheard of.

3) Please un-nerf Talim.

4) I would personally love to see the different stages have an actual effect on gameplay.

Also, I don't mind small stages where ringouts are a risk. If people don't want to get rung out, they should watch their ass.

Keep up the great work!

Character Creation
Style:Back to the SC3 Style.- I liked how you can have your own type of style instead of copying a characters. ou should have an option to have your own aor a characters. Make the creations diverse. Instead of just having presets, have an engine that lets us mold how we want to.

Weapons: SC2 and SC3 style. We should be able to pick our weapons when we choose our characters. Adding power to your character and weapons was nice and all, but it wasn't fair! Preset weapons that you guys create are the weapons that characters should use.

Clothing: The clothing should be just for looks, not performance. I cant tell you how many times people spam with the clothing.

Modes: Just like 2 and 3, there should be modes. Bring Weapon Master, CoTS and Extra back! we all enjoyed those.

Gameplay: Personally I love SC2's gameplay, but I do understand that the engine design changes so oh well.

Well thats all for now!!! Hope I didn't sound too demanding, but hey... thats what we fans do
sc2nm1.gif

some people may detest this.. but please bring back The Apprentice for SC5.. you can scrap Yoda and Darth Vader, but keep The Apprentice. WHY NOT?! that's how yoshi got to stay in from sc1.. do the same for starkiller. and anyone that says he's op can go suck on a lemon <.<

Honestly, and I'm going to be shot down for this i know, I would really like to see Soul Calibur 5 be a return to the style of Soul Calibur 2. While I loved Soul Calibur and sank more hours into it then any RPG could ever claim of me, I easily played SC2 for double that. I learned every trick of every character, every unlisted move, the best situations to use every characters strengths and quirks, and then..... SC3... bug fest, characters with far smaller move lists.... terrible costume designs.... the return to (in my oppinion) less interesting parry system from SC, and new characters with shallow movelists, although Ivy's reduction to 3 stances was nice. Then SC4... and.... star wars cross over? more characters losing moves and gaining Just frames.... fricking Hildegarde <.<..... even worse costume designs... and Ivy now has a billion stances and is completely unintuitive.. and awful medieval boob job. And through out both, the introduction of stun combos. These are probably the biggest offender for me. They take away from every aspect of the game in terms of flow, elegant play. If they wanted the game to have massive damage, they should have just lowered the life total for everybody or made more attacks do higher damage. Samurai Showdown vs Alpha 3 V-ism, if you catch my meaning.

By all means disagree if you believe so, but for me, SC3 and 4 brought the following

Positives:
*Lizardman's style actually flourished and became unique rather then Sophi/Cassi mishmash with headbuts and a unique throw
*Online Play
*Customization (I say this hesitantly because for every custom fighter that is tasteful, there are 50 that hurt my eyes)

Negatives:
*needless reduction of moves. No wall interaction, no jump delay attacks, many slide inputs were removed or changed.
*character styles that were neutered. Yun-seong. Nightmare, Rafael, Talim, etc
*great increase in the amount of moves that have absurd amounts of auto tracking, making sidestepping far less useful.
*Stun combos. OMG stun combos.
*Poorly fleshed out new characters. (at least depending on what you mean by "fleshed")
*Awful outfits designs.
*Four parries vs two. Again I expect people will greatly disagree, but I felt a parry that beats throws or a parry that beats lows was great.
*Crossover with sci-fi? -_-
*over emphasis on just frames

In SC5, I would like to see the amendment of the negatives above. I would like to see either no crossover or a tasteful one. In SC Broken Destiny at least, Kratos was a pretty good fit. Come to hunt down Sophia and Cassandra since he ran of other things to kill in greece. I would like to see art style that is respectful of the characters. Voldo, Astaroth and Yoshi are the guys with silly costumes!

1) Balance: Any competitive game must have excellent balance. I cannot stress how important that is. The developers must be prepared to release a patch after the release to fix any potential exploits/imbalance/bugs.

2) Customization: I really liked the character customization in 4, more depth and options would be an excellent addition. However I would NOT like to see any customization to the move lists, simply because there is a potential to upset balance. Any aesthetic customization is a good addition, also custom stages would be a fun thing to add.

3) Grabs: In my opinion grabs should be primarily used to defeat a guarding opponent, as in guard blocks attack, grab defeats guard, attack beats grab. But mainly I think A+G and B+G grabs are too easy to do, there should be some sort of button press during the grab animation that ads damage as it goes, that way a grab isn't always a guaranteed "x" amount of damage.

4) Dynamic stages and/or dynamic weather: Personally I'd really like to see dynamic stages, such as destructible floors/walls. Also the the floor contour has potential to be something other than completely level (definitely worth testing, I'm talking small variations like a couple feet). Even something like a fight on a large raft that leans as both characters occupy one side of the raft would be cool. Dynamic weather would be interesting, but I tend to dislike the idea of slipping in the rain (an ice stage serves this purpose).

5) Story: More depth please. There is no satisfaction in beating SC4's story mode. It would be nice to actually care why character A is going after sword B. Yes keep the basic story mode easy for new players, but make the hard mode...hard (not sure how else to say that). Also it would be nice if it took a little longer to beat story mode, in my opinion is should take at least twice as long to beat story as arcade. Arcade should be the same, but different difficultly levels would be nice. Also some sort of Tower of Lost Souls, or Weapon Master mode would be welcome.

6) Main boss: Algol seemed rather unnecessary in 4, I think Nightmare and/or Sigfried make for a perfectly good boss fight, and it fits better into the theme of the two swords.

Thanks for reading.

well... I just need to see some Hwang love.... Jun??? wth????? Hwang is the real deal, fcol!!!! -.-

Also, I'd love to see some of SC2 Ivy's moves back, I'm fed up with seeing her more and more dumbed down with every new version of the game.

I would love to have Dart and Levitz from the Legend of Dragoon rpg as guest characters and id like you to bring back the greaves CaS and ad gauntlets to the style. It would be cool if the user of the style was a big shit talker because its lacking one of those personalities.

Can the Calibur girls wear modest clothing? Taki's Kuniochi robes aren't really robes; it would be nice to see her in a haori.

1-I think "ring out" is kinda easy to perform and if you don't want to fall down, there are just two closed arenas in sc4. Please put options a "ring out (on) and (off)" selection.

2-And soul gauge system is just too easy for some of the characters, example: even if i guard impact %70 of yun sung's electrified attack(6BB), my gauge turns blue to red in a round. And a man online performed crit finish 3 times, while i couldn't guard impact him because of lag(xbox 360). Critical finish should be like Fatality in Mortal Combat. Player must only can do it when the opponent is already dying or weapons got broken or something.

3- Why is Tira hurting herself, when she does a little bit of damage to opponent. look at siegfried, he crushes his enemy with his head but he takes no damage to himself!

4- Please don't stick on juggle system too much, it looks like ball skipping in Tekken, and if do a little mistake( in tekken) you get caught by a juggle and you can't escape from it. Then you die...

5- SC3 item, outfit and weapon shops was great, make them return along with their girls please :)
