Soul Calibur V Assets from San Diego Comic-Con!

In preparation for the upcoming Namco Fighting Games Panel at the San Diego Comic Con (the countdown on the front of 8WR is currently counting down till the panel); Namco has released some new assets and character artwork which confirm Ivy, as well as a stage without ringouts.

The most stunning of all this is that the male character silhouette that Daishi leaked to us last week is not Raphael, which I'm sure most of us assumed, but is instead a new character named "Zwei" (German for "two"). He also appears to be holding his sword in a "tonfa-like" fashion.

LOL, it looks like Namco is taking the canon mentality from Battle Angel Alita/Yukito Kishiro -- 'Yeah, everything in the ending is true, well EXCEPT for the last 2-3 pages....' but this time, it's like the last 20 seconds or so of the Seig ending movie

 

Ok, a little sad at this point. Really REALLY wanted to see Taki and Maxi. At this point, i;m like Ok, ive seen enough of the new characters, i wanna see some oldie but goodies.

Maxi is one of the goodies? :/

I hope they don't get rid of a good character like Talim or Kilik and keep the pointless ones like Rock and Amy.

I was worried about them putting zasalamel in this game, but after seeing this new guy i found a new main :D

 

46 is like ancient!!! I don't think I know anyone that old! Also Natsu will be better than Taki because she has blonde hair and according to ninja tier list blonde hair ninjas are the best!

Look at NARUTO!

Madara is stronger than Naruto. And he has BLACK hair. Also, Ninja Master Gara from Bastard!!! laughs at Naruto altogether.

I agree that these pics should be removed out of respect. I mean, really, they can be posted again in a few days.

Zwei seems to be an interesting new character. I don't think he's a werewolf, and not knightly enough to be Wolfkrone in my opinion. I think he's from Siegfried's old gang (I forget the name). I have to admit, though, that I'd be interested to see how they'd pull off a werewolf transformation if he was.

I'm mad at him for not being Raphael, though! XD

I also like the new ninja, I hope she can fill Taki's shoes.

Ivy looks better than I thought she would. It seemed before Project Soul's approach at her costume was take last game's costume and run it over with a lawn mower. Glad to see she's a little more classy this time around, as others have been saying.
I'm liking the new arena, and I'm curious to see how the field one works. No invisible walls, please. That'd piss me off. Fences are good, a cliff edge would make an interesting ring out.

Amy is just a copy of Raphael. Their moves are very similar.She is Boring and has no depth. Not even to her story. Raphael is more interesting than Amy...
Anywho,
Maxi, Xianghua, and Kilik have brought more depth to the story since their beginning (Soul Calibur). They have always have had an interesting connections and interesting stories.
Amy is not a good character to keep because her story is Raphael's story, so her purpose in the game is pointless. She can be a bonus character with Raphael's fighting style. She is not unique at all.
I don't know what your saying about Talim. Dark and Light?
Meaning she can carry "soul calibur" and "soul edge"? Kilik does as well with his weapon "embrace of souls".

 

Im late to the party but I can still comment. Ivy Looks fantastic, Keep her regal and you will have my Vote. Zwei looks great, Ill try him out when the game comes out. If he is a Lycanthrope then props to who ever thought of that. Other charecters look great. That endless stage looks kinda like a graveyard, I like it. Overall I like what Im seeing so far. Good Job Namco (and everyone else whos working on this poject), If you keep this up then this could be the best SC to date.

I totally forgot about that -- that was a high point of the SC story with the 'big 3' of SC1. There character development and relationship with each other was just so strong and interesting. It's a shame that Namco messed it all up for over-emphasis on brooding Seig and man-chick Ivy

And, c'mon, Xianghua saved the world in SC1. NOBODY could beat Inferno except her; Nightmare and Algol was chump-change (canon-wise). That reason alone, they need to bring her back!

Im disapointed that the shadowed figure wasnt maxi. But Im quite intriuged with this new character. He looks great! If Maxi isnt in SC5 I think Ill have a new main.

Stages and other characters look fantastic. I for one am very excited for what Ill see at comic con. Ill take careful notes and lots of pics and spill the beans when I get home.

People confused about the story -

Nobody said that one of the endings in SCIV had to be canonical. Not only that, but if we're going to go off of the videos, Siegfried AND Sophitia's should be canon.

So pretty much - you can't get confused and wonder if Namco will make sense of it. None of us are sure what happened in the end of IV. For all we know, Talim got bit by raphael and is now a vampire-priestess who is the main baddie of the series. Do I think that will happen? Nah. But is it within the realm of possibility? Yeah.

Amy's fighting style IS completely different in both games that she was added as a separate character. Just because she has traces of raph's style in like 2 moves, means absolutely nothing. Mitsurugi and Yoshi have a couple moves that look the same as well. Does this make either of them carbon copies?

 

I personally don't like Amy and could really care less if she is or isn't the SC5 but as far as Amy and Raphael are concerned, they are two completely different characters and i don't know how you can consider them copies of each other. I want some of the drugs that your on.
