SOULCALIBUR 6: News, leaks and information discussion.

GB moves bypass guard impact and harm guard meter. I personally don't think the lack of RE would be drastic with this new system
(unless they tune meter gain). It's unlikely anyways that they're going to remove something they spent time implementing on every character. So the only thing you can wish for is a way to limit it.
why limit something that isn't all that great to begin with?

I don’t the whole aversion to RE, the move has slow start up, can be blocked unless fully charged, easily steppable and the dmg isn’t guaranteed.
It's a like a less rewarding GI only difference to RE it can held longer but soon as you see it start side stepping

thats the thing, you'd have to actually land the RE, then you have to play RPS and make a guess. the risk doesn't justify the reward...unless you want max swag points

To be precise we actually have a thread for EVERYTHING that isn't leaks or new information, as follows:
You can also find character-specific threads for each character in the Soulcalibur VI forum found here. If you become uncertain as to where you should post something, ask yourself two questions:
  1. Is my post discussing, or replying to another post unrelated to leaks or reveals?
  2. If I post this, will it cause other people to reply and start an off-topic discussion?
If your answer to both of these questions is 'yes', then you should check out the list and try to deduce which thread it would suit best in order to avoid derailing the thread. If we all follow the same principle, then everyone will be happy and no one will become embroiled in arguments related to the deletion/moving of posts.

Please try to stick to this so that people who are looking for the most recently revealed information can find it quickly and easily.

Good stuff.

Just bear in mind we need to be extra strict in this particular thread because this is NOT a baseless speculation thread. Leaks / News and only pertinent discussion regarding actual Leaks and News is the purpose of this thread. It is important for readers to quickly determine what is fact (supported by new trailers, gameplay videos, interviews, developer / namco liason twitters, reputable leakers) rather than have to sift through a lot of baseless assumptions and speculation.

If you start assuming there is only 1p costumes, thats rather unsubstantiated at this time so please post it instead here : https://8wayrun.com/threads/soul-calibur-vi-general-discussion.19804/. which is a great catch all thread and IMO should be the busier of the threads after 3-4 days of any new reveal.

If you want to work on your humor and make a funny post there is also https://8wayrun.com/threads/sc-cont...-shitposting-thread.19791/page-12#post-732597

Sometimes mods just help you move your posts to another thread (ie the wishlist thread) but sometimes its just culled and delete if it is OT.

Tekken is different in that it doesn't always have alternate costumes, I don't think anyone in TTT2 had alternates outside of those shitty creation alts. While Soul Calibur has always had them. T7 not having alternates isn't entirely true anyways. Characters like Paul, Bryan, Hei, Devil Jin, and King off the top of my head have both their new and old costumes.
TTT2 was the only Tekken I could think of that didn’t have real alts for every character but some characters still did. Every mainline did I’m pretty sure all had alts, and I don’t think when people refer to alts that the classic costumes T7 did really count, because those were just their defaults before Fated Retribution.

I know they don't have much time on their hands, but these minute long character discussions feel really weird. They're not very interesting or informative :/ It doesn't really do anything to tide us over. It would be better if they were longer and talking more in-depth about their ideas for the character in the latest installment.

I was under the impression that the videos were for introducing the characters and their background to potential new players of the series, rather than current fans. They're also probably just buying time until the next reveal so they don't appear to be inactive as they often do have long gaps between tweets.

I feel like Sophitia's was the only one that was actually kind of informative. Mitsurugi and Nightmare's are just....nothing. Misturugi's pretty much just amounted to "We based him off of Samurai and he's really cool" and Nightmare's was "We made him look evil and this game is cool".
I have a feeling all of these are just gonna be Okubo making a very obvious statement about the character's aesthetic and then talking about how cool the game is gonna be or something. I'm not looking for much here, just.....something.

Making me doubt there will be individual character themes. Would be nice to know if the one shown in the Ivy/Zas reveals might be connected to Nightmare or Groh, let alone a build to show their slots on the character select screen especially with ugly Cervantes rumors floating about.

New BTS video with producer Okubo, nothing really new but you can listen to Nightmare's new theme song in the background.

Not a lot of information to work based on that BTS video, but here goes:

1) Okubo mentions that NM is a fan favourite. He's never really that high in the popularity polls (since you can only vote for your 1st place) but I imagine Nightmare being visually iconic and wielding a titular weapon that drives the story forward confirms his enormous popularity.

2) Okubo also mentions that SC6 is Light vs Dark. Who will therefore represent the Light ? If not Siegfried, then who??

• Kilik would have been a good candidate but he's definately more complicated than the lawful good paragon representation in the prior verisons. His Soul Charge is unquestionable menacing.
• Xianghua wielded the Soul Calibur Swords, but based on the trailer and the movesets in the gameplay video, doesn't really have a "vanquish evil" good girl vibe.
• Groh seems like a bounty-hunter outside the main Light vs Dark conflict.

3) Okubo's patting himself on the back regarding the visual impact of Nightmare's Critical Edge, but I cannot disagree. His Critical Edge is absolutely and undeniably absurdly cool. Combination of visual concept, animation + camera angles makes it my favourite of the revealed Critical Edge and I cannot fathom something more awesome since the bar has been raised so high. Mitsurugi's seems rather tame by comparison.

That was pretty much as direct a reference to Siegfried you can get without actually saying his name. The 'Light vs Dark' theme this series has is usually between Siegfried and Nightmare and the fact that Okubo mentioned Nightmare as the 'Dark' but didn't mention who the 'Light' was is something I consider to be a hint towards Siegfried. I mean, when you think 'Nightmare vs ____' the blank is 9 times out of 10 usually Siegfried.
