Soul Calibur 6 CaS Discussion

Keep all the main cast outfits from Soul Calibur 4 & 5 and bring them into Soul Calibur 6's CAS.

That would be great, and I'm still quite annoyed that they didn't do so in SCV (aside from a select few released as DLC). Bringing pre-IV outfits in would be a lot more difficult, as the asset quality is a considerable step down at that point and the models/textures would have to be redone. Plus, the outfits in IV were already separated and usable for customization in IV and Broken destiny (2p and 1p outfits respectively). This seemingly wasn't the case in V (which is why many--but not all--of those parts were sold as DLC after the fact), but it shouldn't be unfeasible.

It's not like the asset quality is notably better in SCVI than in SCV or IV. They've already reused a lot of the models for hair, faces, and weapons, and Tekken 7 even borrowed some of SCV's models for its limp dick customization. It just makes sense to use the rest.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bamco charges for it all though, as a cheap way to build up those "over 100 new customization items" teased for the season pass.

Eugh... For real, I'm annoyed with that as well with SCV not finishing up the DLC outfits. We didn't get the remaining characters (Even though it was already in the game, just disc-locked....) and they could've easily gave us all the previous SCIV costumes after seeing how they brought back Talim & Seung-Mina's 2-player costumes as well as Taki's ponytail. This is why I hated that stupid Lost Swords game which was just a waste of time because they could've just kept SCV going with more DLC but nope, they didn't.

But yeah, there shouldn't be any trouble transferring the outfits from SCIV & SCV to SCVI consindering they're still using the same game engine. And yeah, maybe you're right thati t would be a little tricky to bring back outfits from SCI-SCII-SCIII but still, it would be cool if they did. And I actually would be willing to pay for it for added in DLC. A lot of the outfits from the past games were awesome and it would be so cool to break them down and use them for customization.

Oh don't even get me started on Tekken 7's customization. It was a total joke and abysmal. About neck and neck with Tekken Tag 2's customization which was equally piss poor (in terms of clothing selection). I swear, I hope that SCVI's customization is as lazily done as Tekken 7...

Considering Soul Calibur is now known for a great create-a-soul mode if they don't have it I will be surprised. There was a ton of customization for IVand V...100 is on the low side so hopefully it's a lot more than that.

I'm still quite optimistic about the 100 items, but I am actually dying thinking about CaS armour breaks. I want a choice of what breaks for each level, not just the whole thing.

A couple questions from a recent interview may indicate that we're in for more a treat than it would seem:
With Soul Calibur VI, Geralt of Rivia is the main guest character to come join the roster. Do you see other collaborations for other characters or new costumes to arrive to Soul Calibur VI? Right now, the characters have two costume colors but no other costumes. I was wondering if there might be cross-franchise costumes to come.

For guest characters, Geralt is going to be the only guest character on the disc. In terms of costume collaborations, there aren’t any plans at the moment but there will be the character creator, so I think that opens a lot of possibility for tweaking a character to your liking.

I loved that Soul Calibur III hid in the character creation mode a full armor set to play as KOS-MOS from Xenosaga.

I certainly see that and we had to make a choice to focus on the character creator or go after these other costumes. We opted for strengthening the character creator aspect and even now, we think that decision was the correct one.

Not a lot of details, of course, but it sounds as if they've beefed up the mode in a few different ways, and we should look forward to it.

I am more than a little concerned if these are already DLC...but perhaps I misunderstood the tweet that the soulcalibur page retweeted? Weren't both of these in the original release of V and IV? Also does this mean there will be various costumes depending on where it is bought from? Guess we'll find out more in the coming weeks.

Both of those are DLC from SoulCalibur V, yes, but with those being preorder exclusives to specific retailers in Japan only, I imagine that they'll just be given along with the other customization equipment in the season pass / DLC for the main game. Which isn't to say that all of the parts from those packs will be reused SoulCalibur V parts, hopefully, I just feel like these preorder bonuses are there to say "look, see, the customization is in the game, calm down", more than anything else.

I'm already a bit worried that they already announced Bikini wear as their first CaS DLC. SC might be the only medium where I might actually hate the sight of them.

Or to just turn it off completely. Kind of like how Mortal Kombat gave the option to turn off blood.

Maybe this is just the curse of being a gay guy but I'm just not interested in purchasing bikinis and sexy generic modern outfits lol I seriously hope that there will be more interesting pieces to come that aren't in the fetish field haha.

Tbh I never used the bikinis or modern outfits anyways. I wouldn't mind some visual kei or gothic lolita styled costumes. I'm mostly hoping for the maid pack to come back from V the mervelleuse was favourite set by far
Edit: the only modern item I liked was Jun's cardigan shoulder price thing, I'd like a non Tekken version if possible.

I like having all sorts of CaS pieces because you get a lot of mileage out of them just by thinking out of the box, as evidenced by a lot of the creative CaS threads here.

That being said, that’s a really fucking basic looking bikini and I wish they gave us nicer options, like the seashell bikini that Mi-na had in SCIV lol.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing more Gothic Lolita inspired dresses, they should really take some hints from King of Fighter 2006's Ninon Beart for some ideas lol I'm "eh" with Visual Kei because it would be too modern but then again, when it comes to characters that I make in Soul Calibur, I prefer making character who look like they could fit into the universe, and I've always been that way lol I'd make more modern characters in a Tekken game if they ever bring in Character Creation lol

Yeah I agree that Jun's cardigan shawl was a nice item that I ended up using and would love to see an equivalent of it come back. :)

I want to see some Dark Souls armor sets and items as DLC. If I can't make a Giant Dad Siegfried I dunno what I'll do with myself

Another thing that would be great is selectable winposes and/or intros for CaS characters. Rather than having them be defined by your fighting style, you could choose from some universal ones. (Hopefully with better camera angles this time around)

If they bring back the Princess Long hair, I really hope they make it behave more like it did on Hilde's 2P in SC4. The completely stationary bangs and the way it was awkwardly bulky towards the top always bothered me. It's one of the hairstyles that always seemed more like a wig than hair.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Selectable quotes too, so you don't have your creation saying something out of character.

Not sure if anyone has shared this earlier in the thread, so I apologize if it's a repeat:
I would love if the character creator had more hairstyles with curls or waves. I feel like currently all of the looks you can make for your character are reliant on them having straight hair, more or less.
Currently there's only Fairy Curls for the ladies and that one hairstyle with waves for the menz. Otherwise you copy the hairstyle of roster members. Those options aren't that great, imo. :/
