Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

So how much you guys with "%" are believing into that supposed Season 2 datamine leak "Stone, Yell, Star, Snow, Reptile and Yellow."

I'm so divided about it, of course i want to believe on it, and why would they put this there other than to troll fans? Also how and why a season 2 stuff would be already there that soon.

Or could it be just simply related to the next DLC CaS? (i so really hope i'm wrong about this tho)

It's not truly a "leak", I can all but guaruntee you that, but nevertheless, I'd rate it, using your requested metric, at 95+% probability that these six characters are forthcoming. A serious tank in sales could still cause them to abandon their plans, andprobably the biggest reason they approached the reveal in this way is to give them room to abandon the second season without consumer recriminations if Namco pulls the plug. But thus far, the sales indicators are positive, and I think they have full wind in their sales to apply the same long-form serialized approach they are using with all of their fighters now.

And no, of course no major game company, let alone one as large, complicated, and adroit as Namco, a Forbes 2000 company, is going to "troll" it's consumer base by frustrating their expectations for shits and giggles. LMFAO--why (how!?) do people keep suggesting this as something a company not run by demented clowns would remotely consider doing, ever? Just suggesting this in a marketing meeting at company like Namco would probably get you shown the door and your last paycheck for sheer incompetence. No, they are definitely considering this and probably well into the planning stages, but they clearly do want an escape hatch if necessary, which is why they have marketed the idea in this fashion first: all of the benefits of obsessive fan viral marketing, none of the liability if they hit the ejector button.

People who dug up the leak seem confident its actual characters and not something else. Although i'm curious what qualifies as "characters". Some of them could be bonus pallet swaps.

Nah, they wouldn't appear as these types of values in the code if they were a mere pallet swap. And indeed, they don't even need to be there for any practical purpose at this point, specially given their actual names will replace those masked values eventually. Not only are these almost certainly full characters, Namco is going out of their way to make us aware of them while pretending it was another mistake (lol, as if they would make the same blundering error two patches in a row, a couple of weeks apart. It's such a clumsy ploy, it just tickles me to no end that they are getting completely away with it. I wonder if the Japanese fans have been any more canny; I should look into the Japanese forums more often.

I guess it's safe to say that the DLC information that was datamined is not in order since Cassandra was expected to arrive before Amy. I guess this means that Stone, Yell, Star, Snow, Reptile, and Yellow aren't exactly in order.

Although I would prefer that they are all legacy characters, I have a gut feeling that we could be seeing a guest character or some kind of promotional character in one of these DLC slots since that's their way of promoting the second season pass. Judging by the way Bandai Namco handled the second season for Tekken 7 and Dragon Ball FighterZ, they would likely announce the first two characters that will be released shortly and the last character who will be the promotional character. Tekken 7 had a guest character Negan while Dragon Ball FighterZ featured both SSB Gogeta and DBS Broly from the recently released movie.

If I am to make a guess, the order would be:
Aeon (REPTILE)
Hwang (YELLOW)
Setsuka (SNOW)
Rock (STONE)
Hilde (YELL)
Guest (STAR)

Aeon and Hwang makes sense to be the first ones since they are featured in the story like Amy and Cassandra. Hwang has a portrait and voice over and Aeon has an incomplete moveset. Setsuka comes in next since she appears to be the most requested character after Amy and Cassandra while Rock is added there to spread the hype. Hilde would likely be teased next to have players look forward to something much like how Julia was revealed in Tekken 7. Lastly, the guest character would be added to the roster.

If we don't have guest characters then I expect "STAR" to be "Viola" as some kind of predecessor or time-traveler. It could also be Yun-Seong with a moveset or weapon different from what we see in Hwang. I have doubts that it will be Algol since he ranked even lower than Li Long in the official fan-voting despite the advantage of recency bias. However, he could also be the "promotional" character being labeled as that gimmicky boss character with weapons coming out of his body.

Either way, expect YELL or STAR to be a character used for promotion. Worst case scenario for me is that Season 2 DLC is actually in order despite Season 1 DLC not being in order and that YELLOW is Scorpion as a guest character and not Hwang.

I'm disappointed to see another rapier character being added, but I am nonetheless glad to see her Soul Chronicle will set up her transformation into Viola. It would seem that Azwel has been made critical to both Raphael and Amy's character arcs. It would also mean both stories set up the premise for SCV.

and I must say, I really love the official character art works for this game.

it almost makes me wish the game characters themselves were drawn in that "hand drawn" look instead of realistic 3d models.

English trailer for Amy is up.
EDIT: Here's a YouTube link too, for better quality.

YES, that's what I was waiting for. The english version of the trailer!

It is good to hear Heather Hogan's voice again.
It is just perfect for Amy.

She looks and sounds perfect, and she is using rapier. I could not ask for more.
Now I am fully pleased.

My expression while watching the reveal trailer:

I smiled and almost shed a tear of joy.

She is so awesome.

"Hope only brings disappointment"
Not anymore!
The curse has been broken.

About that rose thing... it made me remember of this:

Nice touch.

Wasn't Amy saying "amy" while she fights in SC4? I wonder if they'll keep that aspect of her in someway in SC6 lol

It's really hard to know exactly those means, i remember one day Kojima said "always put only 50% of what i wanted in each game". And i think this apply for most of game, especially big games.

What if those are there because they planned to put them all of them there in Day One game, but they couldn't for obvious reason (time budget and cie), and then someone at project soul forgot to delete them (in purpose or not in purpose), and now it is what it is, so hard to know what exactly this datamine means tbh lol

To me, Amy without Heather Hogan just wouldn't be the same. She voiced her from the very start, and even showed up for Viola in 5.
Also think it’d be interesting if her battle damage also undoes her pigtails and gives her Viola’s hairstyle.
I absolutely adore the alternate hairstyles the characters get from battle damage. I'm definitely hoping Amy gets the same treatment.

So I hope Amy will have a move that allows easy access to her BT B+K and maybe her critical finish from sc4 that was converted into an attack throw in lost swords. Hopefully she uses the rose a lot and has flower petals for strong moves.

I want Amy's SC4 outfit and some more lost swords content if that hentai artist is allowing for it. I loved the Kickass/superhero costume. The pirate one was a good choice though.

Nice! It's great to have another addition to the roster. Looking at the trailer in English, I noticed a few things. Aside from the including Dance of the Oracle (which soft-confirms that Amy is Viola in SCV), I find it interesting it plays during Azwel's appearance. You also hear that they have exclusive dialogue together, especially when he refers to her having a "bright future." This has me making a theory: Not only is it possible that he KNOWS she'll become Viola, but he might be the cause (when she gets her powers and loses her memory). Again, this is just a theory, but it's interesting that he's tied to both Raph and Amy.
