Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm still not convinced we're getting a second season. Yes, they laid the groundwork for an additional six characters, but until they actually announce something, I'm expecting nothing. History has taught me to be especially wary of any rumor involving the return of Hwang.

If sales of Amy and Cassandra drop off precipitously compared to Tira/2B, Namco could easily decide the game is dead.

But if I'm allowed to be hopeful about the future of SCVI, I would love it if they decided to give the game an arcade release. This would be really big for the competitive scene in Asia, and the EVO Japan finals certainly made it look as if players were embracing the game. Just like Hwang's return, it probably won't happen. A man can dream though...

I'm convinced we are getting a second season. Not so much that Hwang is in it. I'm pretty sure Amy appeals to a popular demographic, as she is essentially a fanservice character. Cassandra is popular too.

If people are unhappy with the Amy and Cass/4 waifu pack then....well too bad? I bet a lot of people bought the season pass without knowing who was in the pass. Namco already got the money from them! That's the point of season passes. You pay upfront for somewhat unknown content.

If Namco is making a season 2 for tekken and DBFZ, they sure as hell will do it for SCVI

quick taki advice please,
a problem i’ve just started suffering from is trying to deal with seong mina players who spam 1b in soul charge constantly

i cant seem to recover from the recoil fast enough to side step because even though it’s linear it has a wide hitbox, and it pushes me too far back to be able to get in with an attack before the next one of theirs comes out. do i just have to keep blocking until SC ends, am i doing something wrong or what?

Namco is supporting SCVI with DLC content & patches to fix bugs, glitches, & balance updates more than SCIV & V. Season 2 will be announced at a later date & was planned before release. You can't please everyone with just Season 1, so a Season 2 has to be made.

Best suggestion is to take it to the lab. You can perma soul charge Mina and get the CPU to repeat the move and then experiment your options. We all have to do it, one time when I was playing as Maxi and I had one Ivy Player spam 6B,A which while blocking pushed me completely out of range making any attack useless. I had to lab this move and found out it was a mid then high making Ivy open to one of Maxi's hard hitting combos.

There's this new poll in twitter that ask what we want to improve for the game:

I talked about visual improvements and detailed why they would help.
-Improved rings and new ones.
-Improved costume damage system.
-A second set of costumes for each character.
-Improved resolution.

They wouldn't ask if there where no plans to expand the game. So...Season 2 teased.

People who are thinking about the big numbers need to realize that SoulCalibur won't pull tekken sales and I think Namco is aware of this. They just want the game to hit a certain mark (1 million or more) and it has done so.

Even if a game isn't flying off shelves, DLC sold to a dedicated community (Us fans) can be very profitable

I really don't like the surveys like this, where there's one ambiguous box where you can fill in whatever you want. I don't even understand how they can even process that information in an efficient manner. I took a survey from Atlus last week, and it was so in-depth and asked so many different kinds of questions from different angles, it really seems like the input could be used in a good way. This one for SoulCalibur VI just comes across like a generic suggestion box, which would be chaos to try and sort through when it doesn't have to be. I don't feel like there's a really good chance of what I posted being read and actually addressed, lost in the sea of everything else.

What they will do with this data is hand it to a market research company, where every single response will be read over by a team of data analysts. These analysts will quantify the sentiments expressed in the responses and a report will be delivered for the original company, telling them what people care about and how many of them care about it. So your answer does get read and whatever points you've raised will be noted. But yes, if what you said is too specific or uncommon, it will be lost in the sea of other responses.

This post written while procrastinating at my job as a data analyst at a market research company.

In my case as Voldo, I can just blind dive into Ivy, use FC 3B if she’s standing near the RO range, or use my CE while facing forward when she uses 6BA.

Again, I really hope you're right. But we should recognize how much worse this game seems to be doing than either Tekken 7 or DBFZ. It's not just about total copies sold, but about whether or not fans are actually going to stick with their game.

Didn't realize EVO's line up was getting announced tonight. If we're very lucky, they'll decide to take a chance on SoulCalibur VI. Then again, core values lol. It's possible Namco will just throw enough money at them that they'll have to include it, but I doubt they would.

My submission below, hope it ticks a few boxes for some you guys too.

The game needs many more stages for variety sakes. An online single player mode which allows us to fight against community created characters which could be selectable similar to scv's quick battle grade system - this would provide infinite longevity and variety. More creation slots (double them to 200). Allow more than one share of created characters at a time. Allow community creations to be viewed in different poses together with the weapon. An option to toggle all armor sections and extra equipment sections as unbreakable or not so that certain aesthetics can be kept throughout a match. Option to change stage in creation. More extra equipment slots in creation. More patterns and stickers. And setsuka!

The game was successful by Namco's own admission and sold over a million. Even BBTAG, which sold far less, is getting a second season. I'm betting there will be one.

SoulCalibur VI sold significantly better on XBox One and PS4. Steam sales are a bonus to them
