Patroklos Q&A/Discussion Thread

Are we sure 66B+G > CE is a tech trap? I've had two people block it online.
Lag at work.

CE will get blocked if you input it late (or if the game receives it late due to lag).

If you don't take online too seriously, and you use it as a training device/for casual enjoyment, you'll have a good time.

I think he's asking if a tech trap 3KK will still stun in a way that lets 66A+B combo.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't, as tech traps are treated as normal hits, unlike stun combos which treat subsequent hits as counter hits.

yeah thats what i meant. thanks!

3K.K's second hit whiffs since 3K hits them crouching. Even if it could somehow be a counter hit, the second hit of 3K.K needs to be countered for you to be able to combo, which won't happen.

If 2A caught the back tech, it's probably be best since you're +8 on hit..

I'm thinking that online mode doesn't allow any of the 66B+G tech traps. (No one I know plays video games that much so online is all I got) I did a 66B+G on a guy yesterday and then mashed the hell out of 3K and it still wiffed.

Does anyone else forget that they are supposed to be playing rushdown as Pat? I dunno if I get scared or something but I, habitually I guess, end up back up and baiting whiffs like I'm Nightmare or something. I think its safe to say that Pat's movement isn't good enough to be trying that too much.

That's right.

Rushdown can be uncomfortable- I certainly don't know how I learned it, I was a staunch believer in turtle-style when I started out.

You have to keep telling yourself, keep moving forward, keep working 1K (or throws). It's somewhat risky, you're forcing 50/50s constantly, especially through okizeme, and breathing down your opponent's neck. You can't really play it safe, Pat's safe moves slow him down and can only be used after you've shown you're willing to take risks.

Sometimes I get tired of running forward after every knockdown, personally. But that's just what you have to do, if you let the enemy get away, you're not applying Pat's strengths.

I normally learn new things by pushing myself against good players. Since I have to adapt or die, I force myself to play optimally so that I can win.

Unfortunately this stance doesn't do much for me in matchups, that is to say, if I am winning vs Leixia, for example, I won't spend the time to study her very hard. Double-edged, since it just means I'm going to get smacked by a stronger Leixia if I ever come across one because I didn't study.

I can't believe that I got a random 66B+K on a random Astaroth today! I should've gotten murdered or something but I actually jumped over Asta's 1AA after trying to connect a 66B. He blocked the 66B, and for some stupid reason I just used 66B+K and I caught him and launched him for the win!!! It will probably never happen again but it felt hella hype. Yay scrubs who only use Asta 1AA!

It's possible to empty jump the 2nd hit of 1AA and punish with 66B. That's how negative that second hit is when you avoid the insane blockstun, lol. It's better to JG the 2nd hit though because jumping attacks are much weaker than the free 66B and empty jump is harder than JG in this game. That isn't a joke, either. I have a better success rate JGing 1AA than jumping it. Lol.

Yea I found that if you treat empty jump like a jumping attack it works so much better. Instead of holding G and pressing 7_8_9 you press 9G simultaneously.
