Soul Calibur 6 CaS Discussion

I've heard two numbers on that regard:
320- This one comes from 8wayrun
280- This one comes from reddit

The one on reddit does say that post all DLC SCV had around 320, so maybe 320 was the number the person on 8way counted with all DLC.
Really? I wonder why okubo said there would be less than V if that was the case? We definitely have 350 pieces available right off the bat... That's odd...
 
We just have to wait and see if there will be unlocks. And the last few games showed customs with equipment that could be unlocked later on unlike these.

I’m convinced by the lack of certain headwear one of the packs may focus on that, including masks. There are some useful items missing from that selection from what we’ve seen.

So it could be that Okubo-San said something along the lines "Not all pieces from SCV will be back", it could also be the case of him not knowing how many items were base in SCV.

My guess is, certain items from V were removed and certain items from IV returned, I think from what we've seem, the number is fine. I'm a bit sad they ddin't just port everything, but at the same time I get V had a bunch of near unuseable items and others were repeats (Like most of the pants).

That said, they really should have brought the character costumes that were DLC in that game.

My bet is: DLC will focus on character costumes of past games (in particular of those in the base roster) and guest designs

So, I made a a quick function to count my SC5 equipment database (because who on earth would count them manually, that's just.... ew)..

INCLUDING ALL DLC, SC5 had:
1390 equipment items (this includes all 1P/2P FULL Costumes, faces, unique body images, etc.)
1259 equipable items (hair, clothing, etc.)
907 of that is unique in that it's not used (at least by the same name) on the opposite gender
Males had a total of 675 items (46.5% of the total).
Females had a total of 714 items. (53.5% of the total).


Just so everyone knows.

That's some incredibly thorough counting. Good on you! Now I hope that whatever Okubo meant by "fewer CaS pieces" refers to them purging the game of some of the more ridiculous, unnecessary stuff, and not necessarily cutting down that content for the purpose or not the purpose of reselling them as part of the DLC.

You go a really bloated result. Using a line counter, all the equipment the game has + hair and special items, you hit around 380~ (Not counting patterns and stickers). If we don't count hair and special items, the game has around 299 equipable parts. As base, DLC (all of it) probably had around 100 parts ish.
 
Well, I used a line counter too. I dunno. I did it in like 2min, so it's possible something fucked up. lmao

Edit: Yeah, I'm not sure what method you're doing, but line counter confirms, female equipment without costumes, body, and faces is 672. Like.. Female head gear alone is over 100 pieces.

that sounds... wrong... the SC wiki lists 54 in total
 
more specifically the wiki lists 308 lines for all equipment (321 from the start of the -Head Equipment- line minus the 13 lines for every denotation of categories) so this leaves out DLC clearly

idk... i don't think they released 300 pieces of dlc lol
 
They definitely didn't, I remember buying the packs and each only had like 3-4 pieces, except the main costume ones.
 
I wonder if it could be possible that the line counter is counting duplicate lines? or like is there multiple IDs for one piece of equipment? maybe one for the equipment itself and one for the equipment slot in the menu, something like that?
 
Not sure, I guess in the end with all DLC there could be around 100 helmets, because if I recall pretty much every pack had an helmet and usually a top and bottom/boots to go with it. So I don't know. I did notice the cat ears are an helmet piece in SC5 but they're in extra in SC6.

There will be a decent amount of stuff missing for sure even if we have more pieces this time overall, but oh well, hopefully the DLC makes up for it. Maybe we can even get a season 2/more packs if it does well.
 
looking around I found someone who had 96 head pieces for males

ugh

the lack of documentation is KILLING ME! I just want to compare numbers!
 
Base game definitely did not have 100 helmets. At most it had around 50 after everything was unlocked. But with the DLC, yeah it's possible. Like I said most if not all packs had more than 1 head piece.

The thing here is that we have more base items compared to SC5 but out of those 370, probably around 100 or more are the main roster costumes alone, plus the damaged versions. So that's less generic items compared to SC5.

Honestly, I'm already assuming the worst, more base items, but a good amount of stuff missing from SC5, all we seen on videos is all we get with no unlockables other than the ones with the lock symbol. Would love to be wrong but, we also used to have 2P costumes and they're gone now, and the game has a low budget. Overall the game is still great, and even being a huge CaS fanatic like I am, I'm alright with it, I'm sure the DLC will bring a lot of useful stuff.

If that's after all DLC then it seems about right I guess. More than the estimated 100 items from DLC, I guess there was a lot more.
 
I would honestly be surprised if we don't have more unlockables tbh. As I said before, of all things, why would the only character equipment we get from SC5 be Tira's 2P bodysuit and Hilde's 2P hair? It just wouldn't make much sense tbh.
