Soul Calibur V Gameplay Demos from EVO2K11!

Word on the news vine is that during the upcoming top 8 stream for Tekken 6 at Evolution 2K11, Namco Bandai Games International and @FilthieRich will be announcing a few new reveals for Soul Calibur 5! The top 8 stream for Tekken 6 will begin immediately after the end of top 8 for BlazBlue.

12:25pm : opening statements. Introduction of Katsuhiro Harada and Daishi Odashima.

12:27pm : new character announced: Leihua, Xianghua's daughter.

12:29pm : gameplay demo with Zwei and Patroclus, explaining the new critical edge system; it appears that critical edge supers can also ring out. In addition, we also get to see a significant amount of gameplay featuring Zwei's "partner" Ein.

12:37pm : gameplay demo with Mitsurugi and Siegfried. Match takes place on Zwei's new "boundless" stage which has no ring outs or walls. The game looks much faster paced than its predecessors.

12:41pm : closing remarks from Daishi Odashima and Katsuhiro Harada wishing that the game will be featured in an upcoming EVO tournament. Planned release for the game to be 2012, as expected.

2:55pm : @filthirich announces a playable demo of Soul Calibur 5 at this year's Tokyo Game Show.

 

I'm pretty sure Setsuka, Talim, Amy, Hilde (they gave hints during EVO q&a me thinks) and Tira will all be playable. Mina could be too. Just be patient.

Setsuka does not need more lows, she needs more moves. She has so little moves in IV that it almost seems like you're spamming with her because she doesn't have that many moves. 2363B and JF 1BB sets up most of her combos - they need to give her more moves to use combos with.

Oh, and whoever said that Natsu fights like Taki - she doesn't. She fights a lot better due to her possession cancels and uses Taki's own moves to better effect than Taki does herself - sorry to all the Taki fans out there.

As a setsuka main, and one of the more knowledgeable people here about sets, this is almost entirely false. Setsuka has plenty of moves. The problem is that a lot of her some of her movelist is just so good. It's the same problem that I complain about with Ivy. A couple of moves in Sets' arsenal are such complete silliness that it's perfectly acceptable to play with only those and not much else. It waters down her gameplay and honestly is just kind of lame.

Adding more moves won't do anything to fix the issue. Rather, nerfing the ridiculous superiority of her best moves over the rest of her movelist would. That, or make other moves better, or find a place in between. Preferably the third, as she's already quite strong, don't need her stronger.

 

I actually think Sets has one of the most complete movelists in the game, but wuteva.

 

just because natsu has taki's revamped moves and not the EXACT same move as SCIV taki, so people can't say that she plays like taki?

so it's basically like this:
SC taki doesn't play like SB taki because she has 2 kodachi.. oh no.. she's not taki anymore..
SC2 taki doesn't play like SC taki because she's better than SC taki and has moves that SC taki never had..
and so on...

and for the record.. taki's not 'gone'.. ^_^

Now why does Leihua have to wear Kilik's dvparra yuga....does that mean Kilik is dead :'(. NO! I hope they don't replace the whole trio(Maxi, Xianghua, and Kilik) with all new characters that have their weapons. Please keep Kilik.

Yes. Mitsurugi does a single guard impact against Siegfried. I don't think the animations are finished, because there wasn't any excessive lighting effects or sounds when the GI occurred. :-P

Well, um it looks like she is going to be worse than her mother!! I mean look at all that flower crap! Now that i see Kilik and Xianghua's offsping, i wanna see Talim and Yun-Sung's babay cuz they were travelling...ALONE together in third game. Everybody is just makin baby's... lol

So, look at this! The gameplay is lookin shnazy! I'm just ready to learn all of the characters that are going to be in the game. I just hope they don't get rid of anyone good and replace them with new people and keep the bad and boring. My only demand is DON"T GET RID OF KILIK!!!!!!!!
