Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Just imagine if we actually had SoulCalibur III hairstyles still. As much as I want some of them (Low Pigtails...), they would be even stiffer, in all likelihood.

Actually, they probably wouldnt be stiff at all. The SC4 hairstyles are reused assets, whereas the SC3 hairstyles would need to be entirely remade from scratch, most likely. So technically they'd be newer than the SC4 hairstyles.

Anyone remember this?

GameTrailers made a list of franchises that "deserve to die" and put Soulcalibur at #6. It wouldn't be too long later where GameTrailers shut down, and SCVI would bring the series back and better than ever. Is that karma?

I have to admit, I see the irony too. While GT was my go-to source for industry news and insight for over a decade, there was always a sense that it was so big and (in its heyday) flush with capital that they just had a dozen different editorial teams rushing about pushing as much content as possible, and the consequence was that some of it was high quality analytical discussion (for example, Bonus Round at its best and most of their reviews) and then a lot of schlock written by interns/less accomplished journalists (Invisible Walls, most of their Top 10 lists), essentially as click bait.

In particular, as they began to hemorage most of their senior talent in the year before they were shut down by their parent company entirely, lists like the one above became pretty prevalent. I mean, who in their right mind would have thought that randomly shitting on a selection of (mostly) innovative franchises was a useful thing to do for anyone? The comments section of any one of their videos was already that... To add insult to injury, apparently no one working on that click bait video went back to check GT's own review on SCV, because as I recall, GT gave it a decent score and suggested the massive changes were for the best and a step in the right direction for the series (!!), the opposite of the verdict shortly delivered by the consumer/fan base, and also running directly contrary to the observations they make in that top ten list.. So yeah, much as I miss the good old GT (Easy Allies is alright for reviews, but in all other senses a pretty milktoast replacement), I have to say, I'm feeling you on the just desserts sentiment there, given that video is more than borderline trollish.

Just one more day until we get the 26th release date confirmed (hopefully). Maybe we'll get some more tidbits as well crosses fingers.

March 26 makes sense as being soon without Amy interfering with current majors like Final Round being next week & a Japanese major called The Weapon Master is a week later. 2B was released after NEC. I think Cassie won't be released till after CEO.

Oh yeah, that's right. Soulcalibur VI has that Weapon Master event. Could we be seeing Cassandra getting announced there by chance?

Not with CaS Pack 2 releasing first. I think Namco could just do an E3 Trailer for Cassie.
Yeah I guess so. I hope we get something though. I don’t want two months to be the norm anymore if it’s only going to be five weeks now.

I'm beginning to think matchmaking isn't at all working as it should, because casual online on Xbox in Europe is a ghost town right now. Searching for rooms in both same region and other just goes on without result, while it's mostly possible to find a match within a minute on ranked. I can't believe there would be no casual rooms at all only half a year after release, even SCV had plenty of casual players long after release.

You can blame how neutered Casual is for the low population. You can't manually search for rooms, you can't communicate with others, it's slow, and you get disconnected all to easily. The vast majority stick to Ranked as it's the closest thing there is to a Quick Play option.
That's the thing, I'm not entirely convinced it's just low population. While there may be many who stick to ranked I'm sure there are others who like me prefer to play in casual rooms. I don't think all casual players have migrated to ranked, there should still be some casual rooms running but for some reason the searching and matchmaking isn't working all right.

Thinking about the supposed leak a little more, it doesn't make any sense in the first place for Xbox to get a false release date. Xbox is hardly the most popular platform for SCVI, so why would they fall victim to a rumor? If it was 2B I could see it, since she's an absurdly popular character. But Amy of all people?! Why would anyone go out of their way to fake a release date for her, in such a strange place?

The only logical answer is that Project Soul has to give MS their plans for a DLC release date ahead of time, and then MS unknowingly shared this information prematurely when they weren't supposed to. Like someone at the company just figured it was one of many casual DLC releases to happen this month.

If it turns out to be false, I couldn't even begin to conceive of a reason why it happened in the first place.

So she's gonna come with her old SCIV costume too? That's awesome, I loved that design, though her new one's cool enough I wasn't too sad to lose it.
I wonder why it wasn't included in the list of parts she comes with that was shown a while back. I guess I know what her 2P will be once I get my hands on her ^_^ March 26th can't come fast enough.

I'm really curious to see how that whole Abandonment Level works. Will it be like a separate meter that she has? Man, I was so disappointed we didn't get to see it in action.
I think it has to do with the roses because they discussed this picture a lot and one of the roses is a special blue color but I believe that it will work similar to 2B's analysis point/4K lethal hit feature. Landing moves to access a strong move later.
