Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Embrace the WolfStandoBoi!
It's always nice to see that I'm not the only one who liked him.
People probably tired of seeing me say it but ZWEI is the coolest character ever and I wish I was cool and had the imagination of @JohnMcKee to say something like if ZWEI is announced as DLC I'll record myself eating a whole pot of mint sauce with a spoon and post it here.... Oh looks like I just said it xD

how much does this game needs to sell to be considered "success" ?
Well, SCV's 1.7m clearly didn't cut it with Bamco. I get the impression they weren't super-happy with SCIV's 2.3m after 8 months, since they didn't give it continuing support and apparently gave its successor a lower budget.

I'm gonna say 3 million across all platforms in a few months is where we'd like to be, to guarantee the health of the series going forward.

We'll know what Bamco thinks of its sales based on whether they greenlight a Season 2 or not.

Lol you’re reaching here. You’d think if they were much better they’d be back. I love stesuka and Hilde but no way do they deserve a spot over X or Sophitia who are more core to sc imo
I'm not a big fan of Sophitia and Xianghua. I'll trade both for Algol or a Mimic. =D

I have my favs, like everyone else. ; )

SC5 has almost all my top 10 favorite characters/styles.
Hilde, Taki/Natsu, Setsuka/A.Pat, Viola, Zasalamel, Ivy, ZWEI, Cervantes, Nightmare and Tira.

That's why I prefer the SC5 roster.
But that may change after DLC.

Xianghua can be divisive, but Sophitia? Wow.

I'm old enough to remember when SCIV was the red-headed stepchild that sold its soul to big-money IPs,

Absolutely hated the guests in 4. Yes, i'm in the camp that they need to be aesthetically appropriate. However, looking back on it now i realize there is a difference between The Force Unleashed and Star Wars. Was putting just the Apprentice in the game a great idea? Not at all... but Vader and Yoda? That is a different ballpark. We're talking about a level of popularity that far exceeds anything capable from videogame characters, meaning its obvious why an exception was made. Its frustrating to see 2B supporters cling to that excuse as if she's at all comparable.

Personally Vader is by far my favorite Guest they put in the serie and the only one that i really played. And i'm not a SW fan at all.

Totally won't mind if they'll brought back his style for a new SC character in the future.

Seems that everyone is throwing in opinions here's mine on the series (not including SCVI and not in terms of content or anything just my personal enjoyment):

SC3>SC5>SC4>SC2>SC1>SB

(Nostalgia doesn't blind me ethier, I came into the series in 2012 and played in this order: SC4, SC5, SC2, SC1, SC3, SB)

The dumbest part was still that it failed spectacularly as a promo for The Force Unleashed, because Yoda wasn't in it. Darth Vader was, sure, and obviously Starkiller (The Apprentice) was, but SoulCalibur IV came out before The Force Unleashed, so when I played The Force Unleashed, I kept waiting for Yoda to show up, and he never did. If they were going to include a green lightsaber user that wasn't in The Force Unleashed, they really should have gone for Luke instead, since he also parallels Vader as a rival, and unlike Yoda, they've actually fought one another. There was also Rahm Kota from The Force Unleashed, who was a relative unknown, who wouldn't have had the same mass appeal as Yoda or Luke, sure, but Kota was in the demo for The Force Unleashed, and was actually in the game, obviously, so he would have been a better candidate. Yoda was just a failure all-around. Luke would have made far less people angry and not fundamentally clashed with the game mechanics, and would have drawn in general Star Wars fans all the same. There was just no reason to choose Yoda, and I'll never understand it.

They took some liberties with his style obviously but for the most part he moved and fought just like he does in the classic movies. Which surprisingly looked good.

I was a bigger fan of the Apprentice's moveset though. Give me his style on CAS with a dagger and no Lightsaber sound effects and that is an instant main. Wouldn't touch him in 4 though.

That i'll agree with. While i do understand the reason behind selecting Yoda because he is different, its not a good thing if several attacks just straight up dont work on him.

Although I love the music in SC6, I'm prepared for the reality that the stage music (especially CaS) will begin to grind on me eventually. So I've already started preparing my own playlist of various epic tracks from movies and other things (think Hans Zimmer etc) as well as some of my favourite soul calibur tracks from previous games (ephemeral dream, tempered soul and others). Plug in USB minimise game music volume and enjoy hours of epic fighting bliss!
