22_88A is pretty nice but I would swear when I was facing Hilde her 22_88B was going right under it and I was getting hit by 100 damage combos because it looked like she ducked a mid! Lol.

That happens to me alot. I'll use 22_88A and someone will do a TC move then go under it. >.<

Siegfried is best played by turtling in my experience with. Constantly creating space between you and your opponent letting your opponent press buttons so you can get dat damage. I only tend to go on the offensive if I know my opponent isn't blocking properly.

Turtling is not an option when you want to keep your guard meter cool... first at all we have to face properly the opponent cause no matter the character in the moment you start to keep staring without moving they will push the pressure train...

In my case I always try to be unpredictable; changing from defense to offense randomly my matches are based on kicks: K, 1K, 2K, 4K, 3K, 66_33_99K and many throws as possible changing timing and distance; this way you can interrupt a lot of fast moves and in the moment you interrupt the moves they will try another strategy like step from mid distance and whiff punishment; that is the time to start the GC game: 3B, B6, BB, , 2B, 22_88A, 22_88B(B_Cancel SCH); in the moment of "REDNESS" they will try to avoid any finishing move and attack with fast poke moves, this is the time to go to K again and interrupt and take the game to the last step: pressuring.

Pushing and pressuring is a combination of anti step plus mid range moves; 22_88A, 3KK and B6 will be your friends in this step but in the moment you can catch them turtling use SSH and RSH to break their concentration; its uncommon in most matches watch a Siegfried's player using stances to put pressure, but I think this is the best way to attack psychologically cause guessing can be very tiresome.

I hope you all watched Pyro's matches on stream this weekend. He showed how to pressure, frame trap, poke, and punish effectively with Siegfried. Great matches and fun to watch.

Yes pyros sieg is really good, very solid play from him, i didn't expect to see anything else.

However i was more surprised by oof's Le Bello. The first time i saw a tournament level damp and man lets say he convinced me that Damp is not the worst char in the game (thats raph). That B!E! is really dumb lol but i feel he kinda needs it.

I appreciate it man. Also, I have a new and profound hatred for B!E!. It took a long session in the lab and help from a friend to learn to deal with that effectively. Also, Pyro's personal tip against Le Bello. Break EVERY throw.

Guard Meter is never a problem if you don't have to block. Spacing is also a part of turtling as well. Being defensive does not always include blocking and since SCV doesn't advocate blocking all day, space. And character like Siegfried loves to space from my experience.

I actually got to play offline with someone yesterday.

You make it sound really simple dude. It's really just not that easy to do in practice.

He was using closer range types too. I did well when I kept him out, but it was alot of work.

So 4B, has anyone noticed the pushback on it? I didn't test it on CH, but on normal hit and maybe block, i don't remember, it has crazy pushback. Is the move all that useable though?

I am hard pressed to use 4B often when I have 66K which is faster, safer, and gives more frames on a normal hit compared to 4B. I test the push back and it seems that even in that 66K has better push back on the opponent when they block it.

However 4B isn't a terrible move as it is easily accessible and on CH gives an easy Critical Edge follow up for a total around 74 damage. Use it sparingly as 66K outclasses the move in many ways. That's just my two cents.

Im new to 8wayrun. I recently Started playing Siegfried. Any advice and sorry about the quality.
vs maxi

vs patroklos
It looks better than the inital image. Sorry if im placing these in the wrong place, but video thread hadn't been touch in a month.

For Siegfried overall.

Try using instead of 3A, which is kinda unsafe, agA, or even better iagA. Not only they are +2 on GRD, but they offer better damage and speed.

Instead of finishing the 3KKB moves, just try only the 3K. And that is because if the KB won't hit you'll be open for attacks for some time. 3K is safer... Or you could just use K. But I guess 3K makes them think twice.

SSH is a stance that I still cannot understand how much useful it could be. Anyway try to lessen the SSH BBB, use it only for whiff punishment or if you see the opponent ducking to prevent the A. It gives a real damage to the Guard Gauge but it can be stepped and give your Siegfried a hard time (Check your Patroklos vid at 1.35, he QSed it and won)

For a Siegfried starter you pretty much have the idea... Stances, mixups. I ensure you that the more you'll use him from now on, the more you'll understand him and the more mixups you'll find out to confuse your opponents.

I also like the fact that you use B6, I must use it more lol.

Other useful stuff for you, apart from those, are:
22A
3[ B ) ~ with caution
SBH ~ aGIs horizontals and gives you an opportunity for 110 damage, with meter...
WR AA/A2 or WRB
Grabs & low grabs ~ We are so lucky to have them
22k[A] to get into SCH in a classy way
66K
Just Guarding ~ Just like in school, write a big SOS next to it
And yeah you already know that stances and BEs are essential
As I already mentioned iaga must be the Α-Ω for every Siegfried player

Now... the Match Ups

Siegfried vs Maxi
That Maxi seems always to be confusing yes, I know, but once you get used to his combos you'll learn that you can easily interrupt them with your mighty K, or B6, or 4KK (NC), or 4B to create space (I guess the last three need some testing ~_~, sorry, I just remember interrupting Maxi's strings with Hilde's 2A+B, so I guess these work too). Here comes the Just Guarding too. Scare him with that! Apart from those low grab him and if you throw him with B+G you can always connect an 1K for extra damage.

Siegfried vs Patroklos
Hmm... I'm not really experienced at this one... Maybe not at all...
Sorry... But I'm pretty sure that other Siegfried players will be very (more) helpful! GUYS!
Anyway try to use your tools with caution and play with his brain!
And I believe Patroklos may be one tough match up for Siegfried.

So they key to every match up is imo reading your opponent and giving him some nasty mind games to play.

I'm glad that you decided to try Siegfried, I hope you'll stick with him. Even though he has some flaws and weaknesses, he is manly and playful ^^
I really hope to see you around and it's ok about the threads. Something can be done with the SA in the near future. But yea, they should be in the vid section, because it needed some life lol.
Lol no, it's ok :P The QA serves multi-purposes lately, also you are still asking a question right? ~_^

One last thing is... If you don't understand the notations or need more help, don't hesitate, ask! I'll be more than glad to help! We are here to help and be helped anyway ^^.
Welcome to 8wayrun!

Thanks. I've been playin Soulcalibur since SC2 but the just guard mechanic is kinda hard to get use. Its not like a 3rd strike parry or a blazblue or guilty gear instant block. SSH A is good on CH because it combos in to 88bb as you can see at the end of the maxi match. Maxi is my actually main but I played Siegfried on the side in previous versions. I'll add the vids into the video section.
