Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I was making a joke. Hence the lol. I don't see it as clickbait because I've never been 'baited' by any of his videos, but I'm not going to argue if you think it is. I simply don't see the issue, and even if there was an issue it wouldn't be severe enough to warrant people bashing him all over social forums. It's just a further waste of time. Clicking on a 7 minute video that has an ambiguous title has no tangible effect on the viewer, so he isn't falsely advertising a product or spreading lies. He's getting his coin and at most, any viewer naive enough to assume something before watching the video in full on a platform chock-a-block with clickbait videos, will have a split second of disappointment before returning to their every day lives. Like I said, it isn't that deep.

It's better to let out toxic emotions then keep them in you.
Nothing wrong with feeling "hurt" if somebody lies intentionally to you to profit from you.
But i also agree, that such a topic doesn't need to be discussed in dozens of posts :D

I don't think anyone's angry. We're just explaining why Dynasty's not a good source of information.
 
Why not give Dynastys vids views?? He has a large audience and subscriber base.
If his SC vids are popularity its free advertising for the game. The more people who know, the more potential buyers, higher sales mean ALL GOOD THINGS for the series.

SC has never had THIS much free advertising. I think its a really good thing.

Because there are non shitty sources with bigger bases already. He also told me that he doesn't get the views on his SC videos that he gets on others.

Ergo, his base isn't transferring to the SC videos. So the exposure he's bringing is actually rather limited.

1) You're posting on 8wayrun.com so the people who post here are the top 1% of the most passionate and hardcore fans. Most of us are smart enough to know how to get the latest news and don't rely on one particular youtuber (Dynasty) as our primary source.

2) This site should not support the spread of misinformation. Supporting his clickbait videos would conflict with our values.

3) Dynasty's tactics of posting clickbait garbage to draw viewership benefits himself. If we are stretching, maybe a handful of his subscribers have never heard of the series, and will check it out and we'd get a few new SC fans.

4) This isn't like Geralt being a guest character that will drum up interest from non-traditional SC players. Dynasty is a parasitic leech spreading bullshit clickbait to draw viewers to line up his pockets and increase his viewer base. Its insulting to suggest he's doing this for the goodness of our playerbase and the series.

An analogy to you is the spread of the waterproof iphone app a few years ago. Its complete bullshit (I'll admit it is funny) and you're trying to argue that the overall impact to the apple brand is positive??

True, there are.
I wont argue that.... all Im saying is that for the casual fan, OR, the complete non-fan, he does Project Soul a service by giving SCVI free, positive promotion.
Of course for MOST of us here the vids he makes wont have any real news or value but, to HIS audience and non-fans in general, it will be. Hell, I learned that SCVI is gonna be in some tourny in September from one of his vids so even I cant say "I never learned shit."
Also, most youtube content creators make clickbait vids, INCLUDING people like Maximillian (which Im sure was one of the people you were referencing).
My point is, in the grand scheme of things, his vids are good for the game. Which is in turn, ultimately, good for the community. You dont have to like him to see that. (Because I dont necessarily)

SCIV is listed as a game for Summerjam as well. (If it's not released, they'll sub in SCV instead.) Doesn't mean anything about the game's actual release date or possibility of it actually being present in the tournament lineup.

That is why you can't learn anything from Dynasty. He repeats stuff without bothering to understand what he's reading on Twitter.

Yes, Texas showdown. Same build there though.

Bibs said he talked to a Sony rep at PAX who said that the newer build with Geralt etc is unstable so they're not using it for the near future or something.

Next press event is ???. Possibly many reveals at E3.
 
I doubt we see a new build before E3. Probably E3 is the next press event. Haven't heard anything about Texas Showdown. It happens on May 4-6.

Before I start like wow, these posts should go to the shitposting thread! What happened here?! LOL.

Anyhow I change my mind about him giving exposure to Soul Calibur (I can't believe I'm admitting this...though I was probably just fooling myself to be honest.)

I do see how these types of videos are problematic (and journals) when they have no prove and just post shit out there just to get some attention.

I think the reason he gets flak a lot is because he is one of the few that does videos for this series. However, I hate the method he does it when he talks about it. The only person I feel does wonderful videos about Soul Calibur is The History Behind the Warrior. While he doesn't post anything exactly new; I do love his vids for actually talking about the characters and what they do in the games.

For that, I love him for actually giving the time of day to make them and I feel his videos actually will attract new fans to this series that deserves all the love in the world.

How do you guys feel about Viola? Some people I've spoken with think they'll scrap her others think she'll stay
Some feel she'll be a mix of Amy and herself. That is if she IS Amy, which I dont doubt.
 
I'd rather Amy and Viola stay separate, like Siegfried and Nightmare, but I would like to see Amy evolve into Viola, so we can get some answers about how exactly that came to be in the first place. If she fought with her rapier normally, but her Soul Charge and/or Critical Edge used the spell orb, I'd be okay with that. Like if she couldn't control it, but it was some manifestation of power that grew inside of her, due to the malfestation, and in that seventeen year time skip, she became able to utilize it, but it stole her memories, which seems to be what they were going for but didn't actually explain in SoulCalibur V, then that's fine. Or otherwise explain how she came to possess it, if it was some crystal ball normally that her powers awoke or whatever the truth may be.

What I absolutely do not want is a complete retcon to make Amy be a spell orb user as a child. That would just be weird.
 
If there are problems with a new build Id rather they just focus on completing the game.
I care more about getting it in my hands than watching more people play who suck.
I feel E3 might be the next big press even and/reveal.

Id much rather they stop trying to implement this character in the game as EVERY iteration of her (except her debut?) has been broken.

I think there is a potential for a nice little enclosed story with Amy and Raph if some elements of the speculation about her amnesia and becoming Viola are implemented into this single new game together with everything that happened previously.

Gameplay-wise, that could give us a unique style. I am all for a little broken, myself. What good is this game without some seemingly insurmountable obstacles? *thinks about Shad's αPat with chills

I only wish there were more people who mained Viola in scV. :(

I remember that a lot of people who dared to play her was usually insulted because "she is OP, you are playing her because she is broken" Kayane got that treatment, plus wasn't she baned in EU?
I kinda did like playing her, she was my main in V but I still spent far more time on SCIV with Amy and Cerv ^^
