I have no idea if any of this is true since Vergeben has gotten things both right and wrong in the past. But I was randomly reminded of another supposed leak which happened a few months ago by someone claiming the second new character in the game is called Azwel. I looked up that leak and that's a guy who implies he was involved in the localization of the game, and he has talked a lot about roster details (based on what he's saying, it sounds like he's ever only looked at pure text from the game and no other assets).

He posted this list of characters:

Sophitia
Siegfried
Ivy Blade
Kilik

First of all, it's a bit weird Ivy is listed as Ivy Blade but maybe he was writing off a list with weapon names.

But the more important thing I noticed about the list is where the crazy conspiracy stuff comes in: the order of characters. I've modded several SC games and I've noticed the games maintain an internal list of characters which has never changed since SC1 (even SC5 still reserved spots in the list for where Hwang and Inferno would be even though they haven't been playable for many games), and the order this supposed leaker used for his list matches that perfectly for every character. And if this guy worked on the localization for the files and he was writing this list based off one of the text files for the game then it makes sense it's this order he would be using.

So there you go. Solved. I'm the hero. You may proceed to shower me with riches. And now let us all panic because I don't see Cassandra in the list. (It's also possible he faked his list by looking up a list of characters which was written down by a modder, but let's just assume he's not fake since that makes me seem super smart.)

The post you linked to is one of his first posts and he writes that he wasn't sure if Hwang was part of the roster or not, though he was visible in strings. He never explained why he decided to remove Lizardman from his list though, but it could be the same situation as Hwang. There's also chance this is more than one guy leaking stuff (I don't think there's any way to confirm if two posts on 4chan is from the same person).

By the way, his list only covers characters in the base game, so even if he's true that still makes the DLC characters unknown.
 
Inferno would be a waste of slot tbh. Ivy Blade... LOL

So if Groh's Dad name will be Azwel can we suggest the list is 100% true?

With how it's been where we don't get returning female characters far more often than returning male characters, I'm honestly more happy with more female characters returning than not getting any new female characters. Plus, the flip side you could consider here is that SoulCalibur VI adds two new male characters, perhaps SoulCalibur VII will add two new female characters (and no new male characters) instead.

Maybe not 100%, but it might add some credibility. Things can always change, but it is convenient that Azwel is the same length as Hwang, so it's possible that Azwel could be the blurred name under Grøh, but I feel like that's a contradiction if he's a boss, kind of spoilery (or maybe a misdirection?) to give that away so soon, assuming we'll be able to see the full list from the beginning of the game. It would make too much sense to have Grøh's dad unlocked when you finish story mode if he is the final boss, so I just can't see him being the name below Grøh because of that.
 
I wish it was actually possible to confirm who posted what, but this was apparently posted by the Azwel guy (this eventually lead him to post the full list of characters): "Cassandra is not in the game as a playable character even with dlc . Sorry. She is in cutscenes for Sophitia's story mode. Maybe if a second season pass is done she will be in that. "

Correction: Reddit hates everything. I feel people race to downvote and write sarcastic replies to everything (unless it's a meme, those seem to be always accepted).

Absolutely this, also SC use to have characters unlock as well so that would have even more sens.

But something to consider is that Harada is a huge anti unlocking characters, normally he's not involved but he may give them 2 words on this. They can also choose to remove the unlocking to make the tournaments sets easier, maybe.

To be honest, at this point everyone who might now is teasing the idea so much that makes me confused.
I said a few pages ago, yesterday the rosters were talking about they want to see Cassandra players and she is not even hard leaked, I don't know what games they think they 're playing.

Apparently two different people: After that dude posted his list someone said "It's the Azwel guy again" and dude responded "only time i spoke about the roster i said some new evil wizard guy because i couldnt remember his name, if someone else said azwel then they're in the know"

But IF there's a new character evil wizard guy connected to an arthurian sect...is it everyone's favorite backwards-in-time-living mentor wizard, Merlin? Having lived through the future, he now seeks to change it in the past?
 
If this leak is true then it's a pretty cute roster. I was hoping for at least ONE more female character but whatever!

Do you guys use fight sticks btw? I was thinking of buying a cheap one just to see if I like it but I'm not entirely sure yet

So Viola got psuedo-replaced? Personally would have been okay with her style returning through DLC or even CaS only but I kind of thought it'd be cool if we'd get a newbie with something bow-like.

Guess they're afraid to see Menat cosplayers. At least we won't see Gandalfs or Dumbledore (although the younger one looks pretty sharp) shaking their booties.

Also would be kind of ironic if we saw Salia (pretty likely since she was apparently in Sieg's SC1 ending) and Calynpolk appear as NPCs in CaS. Just hope the roster is right.

Shame about the lack of a new female but I'm guessing it's the backlash from V purging the waifus.

I'm really curious about the reaction to Cassandra being an NPC. Or anybody previously playable except Edgemaster.

Guess DLC could have either Hwang, Lizzy, Setsuka, or Hilde. Maybe Lizzy and Hwang actually do show up while we get waifus for DLC. Who knows, Cassie may show up. Hwang too seems like DLC bait since he sounds too good to be true. Him or Mi-Na. But I can't imagine making a custom Mi-Na who goes all Necalli. "WTFYUNSEONGSTOPCHASINGTHATSWORD!!!!"

I swear Cassie Cage is modern-day/near-future Cassandra.

But if Azwel is a mage, maybe he'd actually psuedo-replace both ZWEI and Viola in a way?
