I must be really behind events. What happened with Nyte? He seemed like quite a prominent member, he did something apparently?
Nyte isn’t “gone” he just doesn’t post on calibur boards when there’s content droughts or no fruitful speculation. You can probably find him on some gamefaqs thread right now bemoaning how Marvel comics are horrible now because of SJWs (as if anyone actually bought marvel comics nowadays lol) or how Brie Larsen/Captain Marvel will ruin the marvel films or something.

It’s curious that he’s not shown up since the Hwang and setsuka leak. Perhaps he’s too ashamed or mad that his “Roma witch/Natalie/new waifu” ended up being a korean guy with Wang in his name....

I do absolutely love those twitter fan drawings of Amy and Raphael though. They really bridge the gap from their first appearance to their viola/nightmare iterations!

I wish Raphael could have kept the goatee.
I really miss when Raphael was actually handsome. His SC2 appearance is really different from his future game appearances where we went full psycho dad or whatever thing he has with Amy.

As of now I feel like Raphael is like the Lee Chaolan of soulcalibur....

They're going (read: gushing) over the differences in hairstyles. For example, it says about Raph's SC2 2P that the front bangs have been lifted a bit and he has a fuzzy beard. And that the graphics in 4 really made the hair look layered and lively. I could go frame by frame, but it's not really pressing information. With the Amy pictures, it's pretty much "KAWAIIIIIIIIIII" and shit. lol

There is something about SC2 art direction that make it stand out among other SC (pretty much tie 3), maybe it's because it has less anime tone and more medieval/realistic vibes.

I liked the art direction in that game. I agree I think there was something more realistic about it. It wasn't as anime as later games, or its anime tone was more subdued at least. Also the costumes were a little plainer, so it felt less like fantasy and a little more grounded in realism, is at least how I see SC2. Not that its 100% rEaLiStIc and uNqUeStIoNaBlY aLlOwS fOr ImMeRsIoN, but it had a nice look about it. :)

Okay so in my dry boredom of waiting for some sort of reveal, I kinda have a Setsuka wishlist, but outside of the first one my desires sort of make me feel like a chump.

First of all, CHILL on those knockers. I know the primary PS artist gets regularly excessive on those proportions in drawing, but everything does not need to carry over to the 3D model! Likely unpopular opinion but I couldn’t (still can’t) stand her SC4 1P because that shit was SO distracting. I know her SC3’s rendition could not have been that bad.

Now that that’s out of the way, I don’t know how many people play(ed) Setsuka vs. how many people are just in it for the concept of new content BUT I always wanted to play her much more than I actually did.
Also . . . remove a couple Just Frames ^ ^’
This is what I’m scared to desire because I feel like people will think I’m a p*#sy. But in honesty, I’d definitely adore if, at least, Sakura Air Combo (:1::A::A::A::5:) and Reverse Blade (:1::B::B::5:) could just be normal moves. Albeit selfish, I’d also personally appreciate this because these two moves especially just would NOT come out online and with SC6’s PS4 experience internet-wise, I just really don’t want to deal with that.
Otherwise I just have picky things — like, her Oiran Heel Kick and Oiran Rising Heel just look bad to me and I hope they’ll (especially the Heel Kick) be replaced; whatever the name of her:(6)::K: was, I beg they replace that too. Such a horribly slow kick doesn’t really fit the :6::6:/:(6): command, in my opinion.

I oppose removing her just frames. It's been a huge part of her learning curve in each game and really boils down to using muscle memory instead of visually trying to hit the right frame. I'd been okay with them simplifying it a bit under certain conditions in the past, like enhancing the frame window a bit in SC, but i was persuaded that overall, she should definitely remain hard to play. It makes every win all the more satisfying.

Also, I've honestly won tons of matches using :6::6::K:

l0l uh...how about no? The just frame inputs in Setsuka's moveset are part of what made her stand out as a character. It's what separates the men from the boys, if you will. If people suck at pulling off just frames that much, they should just pick another character. They aren't cut out to play her. This is just my opinion.

While I doubt they’d change it, a compromise would be to allow her to do the attack normally, but you’d only get the combo/damage benefits from just framing the attacks.

Personally, I don’t play Setsuka and never have been particularly interested in playing her, so whatever changes they may or may not make for her aren’t really my concern.

Haohmaru already has something similar where you can do his super long combo with mashing any attack, but you get more damage if you use the right buttons.

Good news, it's a return of our AI overlords and they bring us gifts of yummy super duper high resolution CG renders!


I did a lot of AI upscaling of SC artwork last year and I completely forgot about these SC3 promotional CG renders Namco released as 1280x1024 jpeg wallpapers which are just begging to be improved by the future conquerers of the human race.

Should I do this with all of the promotional wallpapers and upload them?

Random note: That Sophitia render is probably my favourite CG render of anything SC ever.

Agreed. Cutting down her just frames would just undermine her gameplay and execution level. What makes Setsuka (and aPat for SCV) great is how much she rewards you for being on top with not just your fundamentals but also your execution with her inputs.
